It’s been a while…

Long time no update, but I come bearing gifts!

So, I’m not sure how many CAGE fans are still keeping on eye on this, but! People had been asking so nicely for CAGE -CLOSE- for ages now. It’s not the full game, but I hope you can enjoy this trial version translation patch.

Close is a standalone game and you don’t need to have played Open before this one. The story starts at the same time and setting as Open, but Konno’s experiences differ greatly. The antagonists back in Open? Yeah, say hi to your new leading cast.

Why, is that text patched into the game? Yes it is!  I figured out how to insert text in the way back while working on Open, but I had progressed so far with it in VNR at that point I didn’t want to start from scratch on a patch. But now I’ve had the opportunity to use it!

Just a warning…

To those of you playing the CAGE -OPEN- translation as it progresses…

Kujo has a…‘special’ route that unlocks only after you’ve finished his love and destroy routes.

It adds extra dialogue selections that weren’t there earlier. Due to the nature of VNR, you’ll unfortunately see both options translated whether or not you have both options on screen.

If you have only one choice option on the game screen and the sub window shows a really out-of-place ‘what-the-hell-is-Konno-even-saying-in-this-serious-situation’ option on there…

…please rest assured, the single option you have is the ‘normal’ one! The other option is for after you’ve finished both versions of Kujo’s route.

It’s been a while!

Hi everyone! It’s been a while and I just wanted to post to let you guys know that yes, the project is still active!

There’s been some shuffling around of translators and the current active translators on the project are myself and the lovely camicarlot. She’s been doing a lot of editing and translation checking for the project and will now be handling Yoshimoto’s route. I will likely be taking over translation work on Kujo’s route. So don’t worry! The project is still going!

Just a quick update to let you guys know that Yagasaki’s love route is now complete! Endings 9-13 are now obtainable in English.

Hi everyone!

It looks like there’s been a change in VNR which is now causing repeat lines to link together on lines that weren’t linking together before. What that means is that now you’re going to encounter weird subtitles like this:

…Yeah.  We have to go in and disable repeat subtitles, which will take a while.  This also means we’ll likely have to remove names from certain common subs such as “…..”, otherwise you get Konno talking and the subtitle saying it’s Yoshimoto talking.

Updates are going to continue regardless, however.  I just apologize that for a while you’ll see a big block of text like this every time a character says “……”.

I’d like to announce that we now have a third translator on the project, hiko27! She’s currently working on Yoshimoto’s route and has already begun uploading subs for it into VNR.

Also, a HUGE thanks to all of the users who have edited the errors they spotted in subs on VNR. You guys are a big help.

Aside

Just wanted to let everyone know that the translated ending list is up for endings with Japanese names.  Most of CAGE’s endings are already named in English.  There’s really no way to translate the ending names inside of VNR, so if you get an ending name that’s in Japanese and you want to know what it says, take a look at the translated ending list!

Nitta’s route is now FINISHED!  You can complete both his love and destroy routes entirely in English.

Also, an additional translator has joined the project!  If things go as planned, translator Neinteen will be working on Kujo’s route while I work on Yagasaki’s route.

Nitta’s Destroy route is about 60% translated in text, so I’ll start uploading that into VNR soon, too.
